Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahim (Abraham) was mainly cows]. 26 And placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?" 27 He therefore inwardly sensed fear of them; they said, “Do not fear!”; and they gave him the glad tidings of a knowledgeable son. 28 But his wife came forward (laughing) aloud: she smote her forehead and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said: Thus says your Lord: Surely He is the Wise, the Knowing. 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "What is your errand, O messengers?" 31 They said, "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin;- 32 To send down upon them stones of clay, 33 They are transgressors in the presence of your Lord". 34 Then We brought forth such as were therein of the believers. 35 for apart from one [single] house We did not find there any who had surrendered themselves to Us. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. 38 But (Pharaoh) turned back with his Chiefs, and said, "A sorcerer, or one possessed!" 39 We therefore seized him and his army and threw them into the sea, while he was blaming himself. 40 And in Aad. We let loose on them a withering wind 41 that left nothing it came upon, except that it was ashes. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on. 44 And neither stand up nor defend themselves. 45 So were the People of Noah before them for they wickedly transgressed. 46
