The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and waters gushing, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
