Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 in a high Garden, 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure – the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand – he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 nor any food save the filth 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
