The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 It is a written book, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
