The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And it is no joke. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
