The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the sun and his early morning splendour, 1 By the Moon as she follows him; 2 And by the day as it shows up (the sun's) brightness; 3 And the night when it enshroudeth him, 4 By the heaven and Who built it, 5 And the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 and inspired it with knowledge of evil and piety, 8 He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow, 9 and he who corrupts it is sure to fail. 10 Thamud (people) denied (their Prophet) through their transgression (by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism, and by following polytheism, and by committing every kind of sin). 11 When the most wicked man among them went forth (to kill the she-camel). 12 Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!” 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 And He (Allah) feared not the consequences thereof. 15
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
