A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 A Book sent down to thee -- so let there be no impediment in thy breast because of it -- to warn thereby, and as a reminder to believers: 2 Follow, [O mankind], what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other than Him any allies. Little do you remember. 3 Many a habitation have We laid low before: Our retribution came upon them in the night or in the midst of siesta at noon. 4 And their declaration when Our punishment came to them was only that they said, "Indeed, we were wrongdoers!" 5 Then surely, We shall question those (people) to whom it (the Book) was sent and verily, We shall question the Messengers. 6 And verily, We shall recount their whole story with knowledge, for We were never absent (at any time or place). 7 And true will be the weighing on that Day; and those whose weight [of good deeds] is heavy in the balance - it is they, they who shall attain to a happy state; 8 And those whose (deeds) are lighter in the scale shall perish for violating Our signs. 9 We established you in the earth and made for you a livelihood but little is it that you give thanks. 10
