Thamud (people also) belied the warnings. 23 And they said: a mere human being from amongst us, and single! shall we follow him! verily then we should fall in error and madness. 24 Hath the admonition been laid upon him from amongst us! Aye! he is a liar insolent. 25 They shall know tomorrow whichsoever is a liar insolent. 26 Verily We are sending the she-camel as a test for them, so watch them thou and have patience. 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 But they called to their companion, and he took a sword in hand, and hamstrung (her). 29 How terrible was My punishment and warning. 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 32 The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 33 We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut's household: them We delivered by early Dawn,- 34 As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 And assuredly he had warned them of Our grasp, but: they doubted the warnings. 36 And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 "Taste My punishment now that you have scorned My warnings!" 39 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 40
