The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 You will become three categories: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and banana trees, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in plenty 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
