The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
A requester seeks the punishment that will take place – 1 The infidels, of which there is no averter. 2 From Allah, Lord of the Ascending Stairways 3 To Him ascend the angels and the Spirit in a day the measure of which is fifty thousand years. 4 But be patient (O Muhammad) with a patience fair to see. 5 Verily they think that the chastisement is far off, 6 but We see it near at hand. 7 On that Day the heavens shall become like molten brass, 8 And the mountains shall be as tufts of wool 9 and no bosom friend will enquire about any of his bosom friends 10 Though they shall be made to see one another [(i.e. on the Day of Resurrection), there will be none but see his father, children and relatives, but he will neither speak to them nor will ask them for any help)], - the Mujrim, (criminal, sinner, disbeliever, etc.) would desire to ransom himself from the punishment of that Day by his children. 11 his companion wife, his brother, 12 and his kinsfolk who gave him shelter, 13 and all persons of the earth, if only he could thus save himself. 14 But no! There is a raging blaze 15 Flaying off the scalp-skin. 16 It will claim all such as turn their backs [on what is right,] and turn away [from the truth,] 17 and amassed (riches) and hoarded. 18 ۞ Verily man is formed impatient. 19 When evil touches him, impatient, 20 when good visits him, grudging, 21 But not so the worshippers 22 Those who remain constant in their Salat (prayers); 23 And those in whose riches is a known right. 24 for the beggar and the outcast, 25 And those who believe in the Day of Judgement, 26 and who stand in dread of their Sustainer's chastisement 27 Verily the torment of their Lord is not a thing to feel secure from. 28 who guard their carnal desires 29 except from their wives and slave girls, in which case they are not to be blamed, 30 But whoso seeketh more than that, those are they who are transgressors; 31 And those who are to their trusts and promises attentive 32 And those who are in their testimonies upright 33 And those who keep a guard on their prayer, 34 Those are highly honored in the Gardens. 35
