The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 And stay away from idols. 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 And give him vast riches, 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then he thought; 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
