The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 shall call for destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
