The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
