Still, the man who had attained to faith went on: "O my people! Follow me: I shall guide you onto the path of rectitude! 38 My people, this worldly life is only the means (to an end), but the life hereafter will be the everlasting abode. 39 Whoever does an evil, he shall not be recompensed (with aught) but the like of it, and whoever does good, whether male or female, and he is a believer, these shall enter the garden, in which they shall be given sustenance without measure. 40 ۞ My people! How is it that I call you to salvation, while you call me to the Fire? 41 You call upon me to deny God and to serve other deities about which I have no knowledge, while I call you to the Almighty, the Forgiver. 42 What you are calling me to is surely not worth the calling in this world or in the next, because our returning is to God; and because the transgressors will be inmates of Hell. 43 And anon ye shall remember that which I am telling you. And I confide my affair unto God; verily God is the Beholder of His bondmen. 44 Allah saved him from the evils that they devised, and an evil punishment encompassed Pharaoh's people. 45 They will be exposed to the fire in the mornings and the evenings and on the Day of Judgment, they will be told, "People of the Pharaoh, suffer the most severe torment." 46 And [mention] when they will argue within the Fire, and the weak will say to those who had been arrogant, "Indeed, we were [only] your followers, so will you relieve us of a share of the Fire?" 47 Those who were proud will say, “We are all in the fire – indeed Allah has already passed the judgement among the bondmen.” 48 And those who are in the Fire will say to the keepers of Gehenna, 'Call on your Lord, to lighten for us one day of the chastisement!' 49 They will say, "Did there not come to you your messengers with clear proofs?" They will say, "Yes." They will reply, "Then supplicate [yourselves], but the supplication of the disbelievers is not except in error." 50
