The Wall (Al-Hujuraat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ O YOU who have attained to faith! Do not put yourselves forward in the presence of [what] God and His Apostle [may have ordained,] but remain conscious of God: for, verily, God is all-hearing, all-knowing! 1 Believers, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet, and do not speak as loudly when speaking to him as you do when speaking to one another, lest your actions come to nothing without your realizing it. 2 Verily those who lower their voices in the presence of the apostle of Allah - those are they whose hearts Allah hath disposed unto piety: theirs will be forgiveness and a mighty hire. 3 Surely those who call unto thee from behind the apartments, the most of them do not understand. 4 And if they had been patient until you [could] come out to them, it would have been better for them. But Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. 5 Believers, when an ungodly person brings to you a piece of news, carefully ascertain its truth, lest you should hurt a people unwittingly and thereafter repent at what you did. 6 Know that the Apostle of God is among you: If he agreed with you in most matters you would surely come to grief. But God has made faith more desirable to you, and attractive to your hearts, and rendered disbelief and sin and disobedience repugnant. They are those who are well directed 7 by the Favor and Blessing of Allah. Allah is the Knower and the Wise. 8 And if two parties of believers fall to fighting, then make peace between them. And if one party of them doeth wrong to the other, fight ye that which doeth wrong till it return unto the ordinance of Allah; then, if it return, make peace between them justly, and act equitably. Lo! Allah loveth the equitable. 9 The faithful are surely brothers; so restore friendship among your brothers, and fear God that you may be favoured. 10
