The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
