The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where then are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
