Alif-Lam-Mim. 1 These are the verses of the Book of wisdom. 2 And a guidance and grace for those who do good, 3 who perform the prayer, and pay the alms, and have sure faith in the Hereafter. 4 It is they who are on guidance from their Lord, and only they are the successful. 5 But there are, among men, those who purchase idle tales, without knowledge (or meaning), to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah and throw ridicule (on the Path): for such there will be a Humiliating Penalty. 6 And when Our revelations are recited unto him he turneth away in pride as if he heard them not, as if there were a deafness in his ears. So give him tidings of a painful doom. 7 Verily those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be Gardens of Delight. 8 In which they will abide; it is a true promise of Allah; and only He is the Almighty, the Wise. 9 He created the heavens without any supports visible to you, and cast mountains as anchors into the earth so that it may not shake with you, and spread all kinds of beasts in it; and We sent down water from the sky so thereby grew all kinds of refined pairs in it. 10 Allah has created this – therefore show me what has been created by those other than Him; in fact the unjust are in open error. 11
