The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
