The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 you strive in various ways. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 He verily will be content. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
