And that was Our [conclusive] argument which We gave Abraham against his people. We raise by degrees whom We will. Indeed, your Lord is Wise and Knowing. 83 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob; and We guided each of them as We had guided Noah aforetime. And out of his offspring, [We bestowed prophethood upon] David, and Solomon, and Job, and Joseph, and Moses, and Aaron: for thus do We reward the doers of good; 84 and [upon] Zachariah, and John, and Jesus, and Elijah: every one of them was of the righteous; 85 Ishmael and Elisha, Jonah and Lot-each one We preferred above all beings; 86 With some of their forefathers and their offspring and their brethren; and We chose them and guided them unto a straight path. 87 That is God's guidance; He guides by it whom He will of His servants; had they been idolaters, it would have failed them, the things they did. 88 These were the people to whom We gave the Book, Authority, and Prophesy. If some people do not accept Our guidance, it should not grieve you, (Muhammad), for We have made others who accept and protect Our guidance. 89 Those are they whom Allah guideth, so follow their guidance. Say (O Muhammad, unto mankind): I ask of you no fee for it. Lo! it is naught but a Reminder to (His) creatures. 90
