The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 And the elevated canopy 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
