The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the setting star, 1 Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, 2 Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. 3 It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 and endowed with wisdom; who in time manifested himself; 6 When he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. 9 And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed. 10 The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 And indeed, he saw him a second time 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, 15 When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 And subsequently the third, the Manat? 20 Why - for yourselves [you would choose only] male offspring, whereas to Him [you assign] female: 21 That indeed is a division most unfair! 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Does man imagine that whatever he wishes for is right for him? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
