The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And raised couches; 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virginal, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
