The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 arise and give warning! 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 And made things easy for them. 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
