Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yea indeed, We are able to make whole his very finger-tips! 4 In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 when the sun and moon are gathered together 9 On that Day shall man say: whither is the fleeing. 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 on that Day, to your Lord alone is the recourse. 12 On that Day the human shall be informed of his former and latter deeds. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 even though he may veil himself in excuses. 15 O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), do not cause your tongue to move along with the Qur’an in order to learn it faster. 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 Then indeed, to explain its details to you is upon Us. 19 Truly, you love immediate gain 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 and is enwrapped in the pangs of death 29 On that day, the herding will be only towards your Lord. 30
