Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the winds sent forth in swift succession, 1 storming tempestuously 2 And those that revive by quickening, 3 and the severally severing 4 and by those who reveal revelations (to the prophets) 5 [promising] freedom from blame or [offering] a warning! 6 Most surely what you are threatened with must come to pass. 7 So when stars are effaced. 8 The heavens split asunder, 9 and the mountains are blown away, 10 And when the Messengers are gathered to their time appointed; 11 For what day is it timed? 12 For the Day of sorting out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell). 13 What will explain to you what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth. 15 Did We not destroy the earlier people? 16 Then caused the latter folk to follow after? 17 In this wise We do with the culprits. 18 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 19 Did We not create you of a mean fluid, 20 And We placed it in a firm lodging 21 For a known calculated term. 22 So We did measure, and We are the Best to measure (the things). 23 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle 25 Both for the living and the dead, 26 And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water. 27 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 28 “Move towards what you used to deny!” 29 Depart to a triple-massing shadow 30 Neither shading nor availing against the flame. 31 and throwing up sparks as huge as towers 32 As if they were tawny camels. 33 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 34 This is a day in which they will not be able to speak. 35 nor be allowed to proffer excuses! 36 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 37 This is the Day of Decision; We have gathered you and all the earlier men. 38 If you are cunning, then try your cunning against Me! 39 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 40
