The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
