The people of Lot rejected the Messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 161 I am for you an honest Messenger. 162 So fear Allah, and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 What, do you come to the males of the world, 165 leaving aside those whom Allah has created for you as your mates. Nay, you are a people that has transgressed all limits." 166 They said: "O Lot! If you do not desist, you will be one of those expelled (from our towns)." 167 He said, 'Truly I am a detester of what you do. 168 My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do." 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 except an old woman who was among those that stayed behind. 171 then We totally destroyed the rest, 172 We rained upon them a rain, and evil is the rain (of stones) on those that are warned. 173 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
