The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 By the book inscribed. 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 And the elevated canopy 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
