The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
