The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Successful indeed are the believers, 1 those who are humble in their prayer; 2 And who keep aloof from what is vain, 3 And who are givers of poor-rate, 4 Who guard their sex 5 except with their spouses and slave-girls. The practice of carnal relations is lawful with them. 6 Those who seek beyond that are transgressors. 7 Those who are faithfully true to their Amanat (all the duties which Allah has ordained, honesty, moral responsibility and trusts etc.) and to their covenants; 8 and who guard their Prayers. 9 These are they who are the heirs, 10 that shall inherit Paradise; and in it they shall abide for ever. 11 And assuredly We created man of an extract of clay. 12 Then We placed him as (a drop of) sperm in a place of rest, firmly fixed; 13 Then We made the Nutfah into a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood), then We made the clot into a little lump of flesh, then We made out of that little lump of flesh bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, and then We brought it forth as another creation. So blessed be Allah, the Best of creators. 14 after this you shall surely die. 15 Then you will all be raised on the Day of Resurrection. 16 We have created seven ways above you; of Our creation, We are never inattentive. 17 We send down water from the sky in determined measure, and store it up in the earth; and We have power to drain it away. 18 Then We produce for you therewith gardens of date-palms and grapes, wherein is much fruit for you and whereof ye eat; 19 And created the tree that comes forth from Mount Sinai – that grows containing oil and curry for the eaters. 20 There is a lesson for you concerning cattle. We provide you with drink from their bellies and many other benefits. You can consume them as meat. 21 And on them and on the ship ye are carried. 22
