If anyone withdraws himself from remembrance of (Allah) Most Gracious, We appoint for him an evil one, to be an intimate companion to him. 36 Satan will prevent them from the right path while they think that they have the right guidance. 37 Until when he comes to Us, he says: O would that between me and you there were the distance of the East and the West; so evil is the associate! 38 It shall not profit you today, since you did evil, that you are partners in the chastisement. 39 Can you, (O Prophet), then make the deaf hear, or direct to the Right Way the blind or one lost in manifest error? 40 And if We take thee away, We surely shall take vengeance on them, 41 Or show you what We have promised them – We therefore have complete control over them. 42 Follow devotedly that which is revealed to you. You are certainly on the right path. 43 It is indeed a Reminder to you and to your nation, and without doubt you shall be questioned. 44 And question thou our messengers whom We sent before thee; did We appoint any deities other than (Allah) Most Gracious, to be worshipped? 45
