The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
