The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By oath of the sun and its light 1 and by the moon when she follows him, 2 and by the day as it reveals its glory 3 by the night, when it envelops it! 4 And [by] the sky and He who constructed it 5 And the earth and Him Who extended it, 6 The soul and how it was integrated 7 Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 And he fails that corrupts it! 10 Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression, 11 when the most corrupt of them incited them (to commit evil). 12 then the Messenger of God said to them, 'The She-camel of God; let her drink!' 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 for none [of them] had any fear of what might befall them. 15
