The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water poured out 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virginal, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
