The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 and gathered his people together 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
