The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
