The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 On an open record. 3 And the House frequented, 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 none can avert that. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful." 28
