The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Terror descends 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and banana trees, 29 And shade extended 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and raised couches 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
