Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 I was certain I'll be given my account." 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 In a lofty garden, 22 The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 and my authority has been destroyed' 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
