The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
