The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
