Then when the sent ones entered unto the household of Lut. 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
