And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 The honest Spirit (Gabriel) brought it down 193 To (communicate) to your heart that you may be a warner 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 And verily it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 Was it not a sign for them known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 Had We revealed it to any one of the non-Arabs, 198 and had he recited it unto them [in his own tongue,] they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the sinners. 200 They will not believe in it until they suffer the painful torment. 201 that will come upon them [on resurrection,] all of a sudden, without their being aware [of its approach]; 202 Then they will say: "Can we be respited?" 203 Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? 204 Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years, 205 Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised! 206 (How) that wherewith they were contented naught availeth them? 207 We never destroyed a village that did not have warners 208 for a reminder, and We never harmed. 209 It was not the satans who brought it down: 210 It is not meet for them, nor is it in their power, 211 verily, [even] from hearing it are they utterly debarred! 212 So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty. 213 Warn your tribe and your near kinsmen. 214 And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you. 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 and place thy trust in the Almighty, the Dispenser of Grace, 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 and when you turn among those who prostrate themselves. 219 Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I inform you (O people!) upon whom the Shayatin (devils) descend? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 The devils convey upon them what they heard, but most of them are liars. 223 And the astray follow the poets. 224 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys [of words and thoughts,] 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 Except those who believe and do good and remember Allah much, and defend themselves after they are oppressed; and they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back. 227
