Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the manifest Book (this Quran) that makes things clear, 2 We have indeed sent it down in a blessed night – indeed it is We Who warn. 3 (We revealed it on the Night) wherein every matter is wisely determined 4 As commands from Us. It is indeed We who send (messengers), 5 As mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 6 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you (but) have a faith with certainty. 7 There is no Allah save Him. He quickeneth and giveth death; your Lord and Lord of your forefathers. 8 (But the fact is, they lack certainty) and frolic about in doubt. 9 Watch for the Day when the heaven will bring clear smoke, 10 That will envelop the people. This will be a painful torment. 11 Lord, remove this torment from us for we are believers". 12 How can there be an admonition unto them, when surely there came unto them an apostle manifest! 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 'Behold, We are removing the chastisement a little; behold, you revert!' 15 But on that Day We will assault them most mightily, and then We shall revenge! 16 ۞ We did, before them, try the people of Pharaoh: there came to them a messenger most honourable, 17 (and said): “Deliver to me Allah's servants. I am a trustworthy Messenger to you, 18 Do not rise up against Allah, I come to you with clear authority. 19 “And I take the refuge of my Lord and yours, against your stoning me.” 20 If you do not believe in me, leave me alone." 21 Then he called upon his Lord: these are a people guilty. 22 So go forth with My servants by night; surely you will be pursued: 23 and leave the sea becalmed [between thee and Pharaoh's men]: for, verily, they are a host destined to be drowned!" 24 How many gardens did they leave behind, and how many fountains 25 And corn-fields and noble buildings, 26 and the life of ease in which they took delight! 27 Thus it was; and We passed them on to another people. 28 Neither heaven nor earth shed tears for them; nor were they respited, 29
