Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 And gave a little, then was grudging? 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 and Abraham, he who paid his debt in full? 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 And that for man shall be naught save that wherefor he endeavoureth. 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 And that to your Lord is the goal- 42 And that He it is Who makes (men) laugh and makes (them) weep; 43 and that it is He alone who deals death and grants life; 44 and He it is Who created the two kinds, the male and the female, 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction; 48 And that He only is the Lord of the star Sirius? 49 that it was He that destroyed ancient Aad 50 And Thamud (people). He spared none of them. 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 And He overthrew the Cities of the Plain, 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 This is a (Prophet) like that of the ancient warners (Prophets). 56 The Day of Resurrection draws near, 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? 59 and do they laugh instead of weeping, 60 While you are proudly sporting? 61 So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him]. ۩ 62
