Al-Taareq
The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
