Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Most Auspicious is He in Whose control is the entire kingship; and He is Able to do all things. 1 Who created death and life that He might try you as to which of you is better in deed. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Forgiving; 2 who created seven heavens one upon another. Thou seest not in the creation of the All-merciful any imperfection. Return thy gaze; seest thou any fissure? 3 Then lift your gaze again, your gaze will return towards you, unsuccessful and weak. 4 We have decked the lowest heavens with torches. With these torches We have stoned the devils and We have prepared for them the torment of hell. 5 For those who believe not in their Lord there is the punishment of Hell; and what a wretched destination 6 When they are cast into it they shall hear it sighing, while it boils 7 It almost bursts up with fury. Every time a group is cast therein, its keeper will ask: "Did no warner come to you?" 8 They will say: "Yes indeed; a warner did come to us, but we belied him and said: 'Allah never sent down anything (of revelation), you are only in great error.'" 9 They will further say: "Had we but listened or used our intelligence, we should not (now) be among the Companions of the Blazing Fire!" 10 Thus will they come to realize their sins: but [by that time,] remote will have become all good from those who are destined for the blazing flame. 11 Those who fear their Lord in secret will receive forgiveness and a great reward. 12 And keep your opinion secret or proclaim it, lo! He is Knower of all that is in the breasts (of men). 13 Should He not know what He created? And He is the Subtile, the Aware. 14
