Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you the (sleeping) enwrapped one! 1 Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 or add to it [at will]; and [during that time] recite the Qur'an calmly and distinctly, with thy mind attuned to its meaning. 4 Behold, We shall bestow upon thee a weighty message 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation. 7 But keep in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him whole-heartedly. 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West – there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 Verily We shall have fetters with Us, and a roaring furnace, 12 And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom 13 On a day when the earth and the mountains will tremble, and the mountains turn into dunes of flowing sand. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 How then, if ye disbelieve, shall ye escape, on a Day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 The Day when the heavens will be rent asunder and God's promise shall be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
